Snow Gun
Colonels Smoking Gun x Natrasha
The broodmare has produced money earners of over 600 000$
It is with the greatest amount of sadness that we announce the passing of our favorite and much loved mare Snow Gun, at the age of 24 years old. Beyond the sadness that we feel today, we shall remember how amazing this mare was.
François Gauthier received her at his training facility from Keeter and Dewey Prevatt at the beginning of her three year old year. She was unregistered, frail and especially very behind in her training. Consider also her deafness to be a part of the struggle you would have to face in catching up on her missed months. Although it could seem difficult to train one like this, Francois had the feel and talent needed to step her up quickly and offered André to buy her because she seemed quite special. It was the original plan to have her shown in the Non Pro but she demonstrated so much during the year, that everyone’s expectations changed and the powerful mare proved the world of how fabulous she could be.
List of her accomplishments goes as follows:
Tradition Futurity Non Pro Levels 3 and 4 Champion
Atlantic Breeders Futurity Open Level 4 Champion
National Reining Breeders Classic Top 10 Open Finalist
Atlantic Breeders Derby Open Level 4 Co-Champion
Firecracker Classic Derby Open Level 4
Carolina Classic Open Derdy Open Level 4 Third Place
Spirit of Excellence Derby Level 4 Open Champion
Paint World Reserve Champion
One very special achievement was finishing third at the prestigious NRHA Futurity Open Level 4 and also bringing home a Team Silver Medal for Team Canada at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany.
However, it was unfortunate she lacked to hear the crowd cheering for her at the WEG. André even signed autographs as : “owner of the white mare”. She was the first sport horse featured in the National Geographic magazine.
She also received many distinctions such as APHA Honor Roll Award, APHA Open Register of Merit and Quebec Reining Association Hall Of Fame Inductee
What makes her even more special to us now is that she produces a unique quality of offspring, all possessing her exceptional temperament.
Her offspring Yankee Gun, bought at 3 years old by Arcese Quarter Horses, won the prestigious Futurity at the All American Quarter Horse Congress with Shawn Flarida and was NRHA Open Futurity Fifth place and FEI World Champion with Gennaro Lendi. Electric Snow, still owned by André, was Congress Futurity Open Level 4 Third Place, NRHA Futurity Finalist Fifth place and Tulsa Reining Classic Derby Open Level 4 Champion with Jordan Larson.
Being the daughter of the legendary stallion Gunner and the mare Natrasha, she is also the full sister to Gunnatrashya. She established her own show record at $122,000. Her offspring have collectively won over $600,000.
